Just like losing weight and saving money, we all feel like we “should” declutter and get rid of what no longer fits in our lives. However, if you don’t have a pretty good reason — just like with losing weight and saving money — you simply won’t do it.
No amount of instruction, encouragement, or nagging will force you to do it.
With the right reason, though, you won’t be able to stop yourself from decluttering. You’ll imagine that goal on the other side of your clutter, the one that involves a move, some travel, more money, a space for crafts or a side business, or even moving in with your new love (or away from a soured love!)
You don’t declutter for the sake of decluttering. And we’d never ask you to do that anyway. Sometimes it’s just not the right time in your life and you have other priorities. Asking yourself your reason for decluttering will motivate you to do it — or finally set you free from the expectation that you have to do it.
Living An Uncluttered Life means a life that fits you and your goals, and today’s episode is all about finding out your specific reasons for decluttering—and if they are urgent enough to spend your energy on a project like this in the first place.
You’ll get some ideas on the podcast, and be sure to get your free resource guide below to work out your own reasons for (or against!) decluttering your home now.
