A name doesn’t always convey a company’s attitude, so they usually create a tagline to help round out their corporate personality. You’ve heard these before, and the really famous ones don’t even need a company name anymore.
Just do it.
You’re in good hands.
Because I’m worth it.
The same can be true for blogs and even people. Dan Pink’s new book Drive talks about just that – creating a sentence that states your big objective in life.
Our original tagline was “pare down, save up, and get out.” It was pretty self-explanatory and mirrored what we were doing in our lives. The blog was originally started as a way to document this process for our friends and family since we couldn’t find a “Dummies” book on how to run away from home and travel the world.
Over time, our readership has grown and we’ve learned quite a bit about preparing for a huge life change.
- We’ve saved money – a lot of it. In fact, over half our income.
- You don’t need nearly as much stuff as you have. Trust me on this.
- Surround yourself with quality people and be one yourself.
It doesn’t just apply to travel, and over time we’ve attracted a lot of readers who don’t even care about travel. They care about changing their lives in positive ways and pursuing their own dreams.
We’ve made tweaks the blog all along, and this week we are unveiling our new tag line:
Life is short. Live your dream.
As wordy as I am, it may surprise you to see something so brief. But it does convey what we want for ourselves and for all of you: to seize the life you have, make it as good as it can possibly be, and to spread your love and happiness to those around you.
Thank you for reading our blog. We are humbled and challenged by you every week, and we work very hard to make this a place you want to visit.
So now that you know our tag line, what’s yours?
